We love coconut yogurt at our house.  Yogurt is tricky, though. Have you ever looked at the sugar content of yogurts? Some are better than others.  Ideally, I would buy unsweetened yogurt.  Unfortunately, non-dairy unsweetened yogurt is not always available locally for me.  If it is, I get it, but the rest of the time I am stuck with vanilla yogurt.  I choose coconut yogurt because it has less sugar than other non-dairy options.  I couldn’t stop thinking about it one day when my children pounded a serving or more each in one sitting, and I thought “wow, they just ate almost their entire RDA of sugar in one sitting, with yogurt!”  When I don’t have unsweetened yogurt, I solve the problem by serving “yogurt, hold the yogurt”.  I make the yogurt the accessory on top of fruit and homemade granola, rather than the other way around.  This way they consume a lot less yogurt.  You could also add a big heaping scoop of raw nut butter for added protein.  Our favorite is berries, homemade granola, yogurt and cinnamon.
